Piercings and tattoos are body decorations that go back to ancient times. Body piercing involves making a hole in the skin so that you can insert jewelry. This is often in the earlobe, but can be in other parts of the body. Tattoos are designs on the skin made with needles and colored ink. Permanent makeup is a type of tattoo.

Instead of educating everyone on tattoos, how they are designed, how they are put on the skin, how to take them off, and how everyone views them, I thought I would write on how remarkable they are. Different people in various stages of their lives decide to undergo the pain and get a tattoo or piercing. Some do this because they go through hardships, or times of extreme pleasure, others a loved one. Whatever the reason, no one has the right to judge or discriminate such acts, after all one’s body is one’s own. Some may think that it’s boring being the same as everyone else with the same clothes and style and they try to express themselves in a unique way.

There are thousands, if not millions, of people wearing the same style of clothes, shoes, hats, and sunglasses. But I’m sure there are very few people with the same identical tattoo. If you have a customized tattoo design, you would most definitely be the only one with that tattoo on your skin; this makes you unique, especially if you happen to have multiple tattoos. Tattoos are both unique and creative and everyone is unique.

Clothes get popular depending on the trends, but on the whole everyone ends up wears the same thing. Tattoos are becoming extremely popular these days and the trend is only going to get more popular. For many people getting tattooed is an act of self-embellishment, it’s setting a trend, stating a fact or point of view and it also shows bravery, patience, and toughness. The fact that you go through the pain to get a tattoo, or even multiple tattoos shows stamina!

On the other hand, as amazing as tattoos may look, one has always be extra careful to prevent any illnesses in the process.  The health risks of piercings and tattoos include:

·      Allergic reactions

·      Keloids, a type of scar that forms during healing

·      Infections, such as hepatitis

To reduce the risks, make sure that the facility is clean, safe and has a good reputation. Proper sterilization of the equipment is important. Make sure to follow the instructions on caring for your skin.

Holes from piercing usually close up if you no longer wear the jewelry. It is possible to remove tattoos, but it's painful and can cause scarring.
