We are Manuela and Marco an Italian family from Milan.

It was Manuela’s adventurous spirit to move her family from the North of Italy to Malta.

In fact “La Baia dei Pirati” is a Pub and Bar located by the sea on the Bugibba promenade, with a special female touch. Opening the menu you will discover that all the dishes have a name of a famous woman Pirate.

“What does a female pirate mean to you Manuela?” we asked.

“For me means a woman that has the courage to reinvent herself, thanks to her creativity and her passion! explained Manuela.

“So for me La Baia dei Pirati is not only a bar but a safe place open to the infinite sea, where you can relax, listen to good music and spend a nice time with your friends”.

All the food served at La Baia dei Pirati is homemade prepared directly by Manuela whose bar is vintage by design, made of wood and with white and red as the dominant colours. 

“That is a tribute to Malta, who welcomed us opening her door to our venture”, she explained. “Actually I see Malta as my Neverland, a place where the values of family and friendship are still very strong. That’s why I decided to move here, because I wanted to guarantee to my children a safe childhood in an environment that is truly family oriented”.

Marco, her husband is on hand to help, a wood artisan who made all the settings of the Bar by himself. Marco and Manuela have also owned a renewed carpenter business in Italy and they offer consultancy also for Maltese businesses.

“Our experience in running a business let us grow a sense of respect and dedication for our clients, so that at The Baia dei Pirati our main mission is to provide quality food and service, so that our clients can have lovely time with us and, of course come back”.

The FreeWay Surfstores has always been the major support for extreme sports in Malta specifically where board sports are concerned. Skating

The first skate shop to open in Malta in the last 10 years and by far the most successful. It is impossible to list the amount of equipment we have in stock. A range of at least 80 different decks always at hand. Trucks, bearings, decks, wheels, skate tools, risers, completes, longboards, grip tape galore. All the hardware to make any skater feel like a kid in a sweet shop. You have to see the range to believe it. Foreign skaters come to our shop and their jaws drop at our selection. Surfing

At our shop we carry a good stock of surfboards and we also do loads of body boards and fins for all ages and wallets. Our surfboards range from BIC boards for the beginners and we also stock NEV, ZAK and MC hand shaped boards. Sex wax, lashes, repair kits, board bags, roof racks, etc. are always in stock. We also do a good selection of Rip Curl wetsuits and Scorpion Bay rash vests.

The George, a traditional pub that offers something to everyone, from live entertainment, quizzes, sports footage on big screens, great food and drink at reasonable prices and a large collection of genuine pictures and memorabilia from the second world war.

The pub and diner opens daily from 10am for our well known breakfast menu, through to lunch and dinner where you can get two great meals such as traditional battered fish and chips, fry-ups, country steak and chips, chicken in the basket and more for only €9.00.

Our Sunday roast is a must, you can choose from three different mouth watering roast meats which are served with local fresh vegetables, roasted potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding covered with rich gravy. 

During the evening the lights are dimmed transforming the establishment for the night's entertainment where we stay open in to the early hours. We serve a variety off blended spirits, well known local and foreign draught beers such as 1565 Victory Lager, Stella Artois, Fosters, John Smiths, Bombardier, Guinness and Strongbow, not to mention many more in bottles, including our exclusive Belgium range. For the wine lovers, a specially selected range can be found on our menu.
