One of Malta’s stalwarts when it comes
to dining out, Bouzouki is practically an institution with
Maltese and with regular visitors to the island. Everyone
loves this unique restaurant with its beautiful location overlooking
Spinola Bay, its charming owners and its exquisite food makes
the Greek islands appear so enticing and delectable.

What makes Bouzouki even more of a wonder is the fact that
it’s one of the few specialty restaurants in Malta that
actually delivers what it promises. ‘Genuine Greek Specialties’
is what’s written on the menu – and Genuine Greek
Specialties is what you’ll get. Bouzouki offers the
real thing, thanks to the Greek roots of the Scudamore family.
Any dinner here is bound to be a memorable explosion of taste
and flavour that you will be hard done to find anywhere else.

The mezethes at Bouzouki are legendary: many choose to start
their meal with a plateful of these meat and sea-food starters
– others love them so much that they decide to forego
a main course and just feast on this magnificent selection.
Heaven knows the portions are generous enough for this. There
are over 15 mezethes on the menu, which really means that
you can have a lovely ‘mix ’n’ match’
banquet without bothering with main courses. The mezethes
are all cooked the traditional way with aromatic herbs and
spices that give Greek cuisine the unique flavour that it’s
renowned for. Yoghurt Dip, Taramosalata (Smoked Fish Roe Dip),
Skorthalia (Garlic Dip), Saganaki (Fried Feta Cheese)…

But if it’s your first-time at Bouzouki it would be
a sin to overdo it with the mezethes and not enjoy your main
courses. Greek food is beautifully rich in flavour and Bouzouki’s
offerings keep to the tradition, with renowned Greek favourites
like the Kleftiko (Roast Lamb) and Moussaka (baked meat and
aubergines)
Tradition is taken up to the dessert menu – the Baklava
here is to die for. Crumbly filo pastry with walnuts and honey,
served just the right way.
It’s certainly hard to beat tradition!
Open for dinner from Monday to Saturday from 7.00pm to 11.00pm
last order.
