King’s Exotics, San Gwann was opened on the 10th May 2010 by David Attard with the sole purpose of educating people and promoting exotic pets as a satisfying hobby. The shop is divided into two main sections:
a. the fish section, which includes ornaments and aquariums with various different fish including marine and fresh water fish, and products for fish keeping such as Tetra, Nyos Reef, Eheim, New Life Spectrum, Fauna Marine and others;
b. the reptile section, which includes products for reptile keeping such as ZooMed, VetArk, Microclimate and Repashy, and various exotic animals which includes arachnids, amphibians and a wide range of reptiles. This section will also be hosting exotic birds in the future.
David’s passion for animals had originally started when his father had gotten his first corn snake home when he was just 10 years old. The collection started from one corn snake to more snakes, various amphibians, arachnids, lizards, chameleons, parrots so on and so forth.
In 2009, David furthered his education by enrolling to a course leading to a B.Sc.(Hons) in Applied Biosciences at the University of Ulster, with a dissertation titled “Determine the effect of two diets on the number and frequency of eggs laid by female Leopard Geckos (Eublepharis macularis) in a controlled habitat. He graduated in November 2012.
David wants to familiarize animal keeping as an ongoing hobby and wishes to share his wonderful experiences with various people who are interested in taking up this exotic hobby.
