Built in 1637 our building was originally part of a hospital and was later used as a bakery. With 3 large mill rooms, two courtyards, the baker’s oven and several smaller side rooms the layout can only be described as impressive.
Although we kept all the original features like the bakers oven, old Maltese tiles etc. The rooms and furniture were decorated and partly designed by the Austrian Artist Clemens Hasengschwandtner who considers the building as an ongoing art project which creates a more than colourful and inspiring atmosphere.

Opened in summer 2002 Il–Forn is mainly a wine bar with a locally inspired food concept. We specialize in simple, well balanced dishes made of the best local ingredients.
We really go a long way to make sure to offer the crispiest bread, the best Gbejniet, the freshest vegetables … and come up with some creative ideas to combine these ingredients into mouth watering delicatessens.
We are quite proud to offer one of the biggest wine lists in Malta and are constantly investing in new and exciting wines from all over the world for our customers to experience.

Il–Forn offers a variety of different rooms and setups for all kind of venues. Our ground floor can seat up to 80 persons, ‘Il-Bitha’ 40 persons and the ‘Ghorfa’ 40 persons comfortably.
We also cater for private functions -
Birthday, Bachelors, Hens, Staff Parties, BBQ’s etc…….
