| Nothing could be more evocative than this beautiful restaurant which, as the name itself suggests, is located in a genuine old windmill in the quaint village of Mellieha. Il-Mithna is probably one of the most unique restaurants on the island, housed in a beautiful centuries-old building that still retains most of its original features. There is a charming, rustic feel to the place that immediately spells genuine, homemade fayre and this first impression will not leave anyone who visits disappointed.

The cuisine is typical Mediterranean, courtesy of chef patron Sandro, whose specialty seems to be transforming seemingly simple dishes into luscious masterpieces. Every dish on the menu has a twist to it, one that makes it memorable long after your visit to the restaurant. One of Il-Mithna’s specialities is the Ravioli with Rabbit, with its delicate, yet satisfying flavour that not many restaurants manage to achieve. The choice is ample: there is pasta, fish, meat…something to satisfy everyone’s taste buds and mixing the traditional with the contemporary to create a happy, utterly irresistible fusion.

The best thing is that the prices do not reflect the quality of the restaurant or its food: dinner with a good bottle of wine is very affordable, a factor that adds considerably to the enjoyment of the evening. Add gracious hosts and a magnificent location and you have the perfect recipe for an evening!
