| With its stylish and innovative décor, breathtaking views of the sea and appealing, Mediterranean-based menu, The Carriage in Valletta has been the talk of the capital for over 20 years when its doors first opened in the 80s.

The restaurant is part of an office block, the ‘Valletta Buildings’ in South Street, and is definitely worth a visit when out and about in the capital. The panorama is spectacular and the perfect backdrop to enjoy a nice meal, especially if you’re dining out with a loved one. The only element that rivals the unobstructed sea view is the mouthwatering food: modern Mediterranean cuisine with a slant towards the orient.

One dish worth a mention is the Spring Lamb with Roast Aubergine, Tomato and Caviar d’Olive which is absolutely heavenly. So are the cakes and sweets which are a fusion of ingredients that work excellently together. Nights out in Valletta always bring to mind another era: one less pretentious and more romantic. Restaurants like The Carriage, in which everything from the food to the service screams class, are the perfect venues to really enjoy the splendour the city has to offer.
